Dublin is a city with a history like no other, from invasions and rebellions to revolutions and civil war we've seen it all. Join me as we meander through the windy characteristic streets of Dublin and we discover how a small viking settlement came to be a sophisticated modern cosmopolitan city.
This tour will cover the key part Dublin plays in the relationship between Ireland and Britain. We will discuss the rebellions that took place and the role of British rule in Ireland. By visiting both the North and South sides of the city we will discover not only 'Irish Dublin' but 'British Dublin' too. Key sites on the tour include Dublin Castle, the Houses of Parliament, Trinity College, Temple Bar, GPO, O'Connell Street, the Garden of Remembrance.
As well as discussing the political history of Dublin we will examine its culture too by discussing her famous writers, musicians, language and with her well, shall we say, 'interesting' relationship with alcohol as we have a break with a pint of the black stuff!
Tour time encompasses a lunch break for the full five hour option. An abridged three hour option is also available
